East Africa - Week 2

Uganda 26 July 2015 – 1 August 2015

I have not been able to upload photographs to my blog without wifi or decent band width but will add my photographs to my blog post as soon as I can.

We are having the most brilliant time in Uganda with everything being great. Our trip was organised by our local ground agents Avian Watch Uganda.  Everything is   going really well with Robert, our fantastic guide (who knows all the sites and calls and can whistle birds in) and our driver and fixer, for who nothing was too much.

The highlight of our second week in Uganda was seeing  a Green-breasted Pitta at Kibale National Park.  It is only one of two Pitta species in Africa and this is the only place it is possible to see them.  Birdquest had missed it when their tour led by Nik Borrows missed it 10 days before us.  So we knew it would be tricky, so it was all the more amazing when we got Fantastic views for 15 minutes, of a male displaying.  Banging into 3 Chimpanzee was the icing on the cake.

As at the end of my second week, I had seen 429 species of which 186 were new, which was fantastic.
